About this topic

The NHS lists weight gain among the common changes of perimenopause and menopause, and notes it often settles around the stomach and upper body. Symptoms of the transition usually last seven to nine years, sometimes longer, so the change tends to be gradual.

This topic looks at weight through the lens of the rest of the site: keeping and building muscle, staying active on the days you feel worst, and eating enough to train. It gives no diet plans, supplement advice or treatment advice, and points to your doctor for anything that worries you.
